Spain Update

Well things are going great! I absolutely love my host family. They have been so supportive and helpful in my adaptation to Spain and living in this special place. There is something magical about living in a new place...everything is new and fresh, your slate is clean from whatever past one may have, there are new people and places to explore. I am trying to get involved with as many things as I can while I am here. For example, next week I will be starting dance classes that involve various traditional Spanish dances. I am pumped to learn some of those dances. Also, I am trying to volunteer to help young Spanish kids with their English skills and be a tutor for them. I feel like I am developing some new relationships with the people in my group, and I hope to continue making more with the people here.
Last weekend we went to Segovia, which houses an incredible Roman Aqueduct, a breath-taking Cathedral, and finally the medieval castle of Alazar that sits proudly on the edge of this cliff overlooking the city. Segovia was definitely a beautiful place and I recommend it to anyone traveling in Spain. Then, we took a tour of the majestic palace of El Escorial which is this huge, elegant palace of the king that rests at the top of this mountain (which we had to walk up this steep road to get to) and that also is the house of the dead Spanish kings of old. What a fantastic setting and place to see. Tomorrow we are off to the ancient city of Toledo, and I am very excited to see which mysteries the town has in store for me..
I am in love with this place, the people, and their way of life. I am so thankful for this opportunity to be here, and primarily I thank God for opening some doors in my life for me to have this amazing life experience. I miss my family back home and I am also thankful for what they have done for me...Viva Espana
